New Zealand offers 400 golden visas to investors, every single year. All applicants are required to have a business background, sufficient assets, as well as good knowledge of English (or have a pre-arranged course booked upon arrival). Authorities will check whether the applicant fulfils the requirements every 2 years. This is to identify whether or not the investments are in good order, and the minimum stay rule (146 days per year) is followed. Equally, investors will have 3 months to provide evidence of compliance. In some cases, the investor will have a no minimum stay exclusivity. 

If the portion of non-growth investment (bonds and philanthropic investments) is less than 1 000 000 NZD (640 000 USD), the lowest investment amount is 2 500 000 NZD (1 600 000 USD). If the applicant chooses to invest in bonds or make philanthropic investments, the minimum threshold is 3 000 000 NZD (1 950 000 USD), but the minimum stay requirement will be waived. An applicant may also invest 10 000 000 NZD (6 400 000 USD). In this case, the minimum stay requirement will be limited to 44 days per year, if at least 2 500 000 NZD (1 600 000 USD) are growth investments, or waived if the portion of growth investments is below 2 500 000 NZD (1 600 000 USD).
